Now one thing that would definitely curl my toes would be the opportunity to tell the American oil companies, several members of OPEC, and a few other oil rich countries to take a flying leap into oblivion. So whenever I see anything that pushes us in that direction I feel a little better. Funny, had to find this article from a source outside the United States.
They say that electric power storage that is part battery part chemical fuel cell may ditch gasoline for good.
Stuart Licht, who conceived the new design along with his colleagues at the university, says that it can store energy more densely than petrol.
Much of what we do these days is just trend water and try like hell to keep our credit card financed lifestyles from consuming us like a rabid hungry bear. We usually don't have time to even think about how other people live in parts of the world where the leftover food we regularly send down the garbage disposal would be thought of as a blessing from God. Several times I have half-jokingly written how I don't believe humans are an intelligent species that we can't or won't move to overcome our pre-wired million of years old programming that sees anyone outside our respective nations, tribes, social setting, or religion as evil or corrupted. Happily there are those that give me some hope that humans might indeed be worthy of higher regard.
What is a hero? The American Heritage Dictionary defines the word as "a person noted for feats of courage or nobility of purpose, especially one who has risked or sacrificed his or her life."
Please do not get the idea that I think things will all be peaches and cream in the end. Huge forces that inspire to the lower, baser levels of the human mind like greed, the lust for power and control, and envy want things to stay the way they are since any change will not directly benefit them. My main reason for doing this post is just to spread some word that there are some out there working for the betterment of the entire mass of curious hairless primates that can’t seem to pull its collective head out its collective ass. Good night and good luck.

Wait until the oil companies get their hands on this.
I hate to sound so cynical about things, but it does seem that way.
Nice news.hope it comes out soon. It's getting so difficult with the price increase in oil prices.
take care
Thanks for some good news.
thanks for that heroes link. those are definitely people worthy of our esteem. mohammad yunus caught my attention when he won the nobel peace prize but i enjoyed reading about the others.
Mike: That was the first thing I thought after reading about the battery/chemical fuel cell hybrid. Big oil will try like hell to cover up and prevent it from being further developed.
Naini: Like I wrote above, if big American oil companies have any say that one story will be the end of it.
Vigil: Had to find some, if I hear Palin repeat the lie "thanks but no thanks" over that bridge to nowhere one more time I will puke. But none the less I'm carrying a bucket around with me now when I listen to the news. Saves on the messy cleanup.
Lime: Yeah, the second segment was a a real pick-me-up. I knwo teh main stream media does a story like that once in a while but they could do more.
you may call me V. :D
tnxx for the Good news BB! :)

haha good one!
Keshi.
Once they find a viable economic model (read: private sector socialism under the guise of the free market) they'll be all over alternative fuels. Look at Pickens. If anything thinks he gives a crap about the planet, they're smoking something good and should share. He just sees that the future is in something other fossil fuels.
It's one thing to war over resources on a limited scale like we're doing now, it's another to go all Road Warrior. ;-)
BB, good idea on the bucket. I might start doing that!
Once again I am uplifted and I am the ultimate cynic. Now I will have to think of a cynical observation. I believe I will have a scotch first as it helps me relax, and relax, and relax.......
If hairless primates = Catherine Zeta Jones, minus McCain, count me in...
Howdy Mr. Parrothead. I just arrived from Tequila Mockingbird's blog, and even though your blog is not, despite the name, parrot-related at all, I'm gonna blogroll you if you don't mind.
Personally, I'm working on an engine that runs on surplus bird food. Not going so great so far, unfortunately. I'll let the world know if I make any breakthroughs.
V and Keshi: Just wondering what people are saying about the American presidential race on y'alls side of the big blue marble? Any insight you could give would be a big help.
Randal: I agree, Pickens ain't doing his plan out of the goodness of his heart but right now I can't describe in nice terms my opinion of Cheney's buddies in the oil companies.
MadMike: Thanks, Like to see more of this stuff get out to the public but then we wouldn't have all that intelligent debate on pitbulls and their make up habits.
Colonel: This hairless primate would love to run into the bushes with Catherine and make boom-boom.
Baba: Welcome to my little corner of the universe. Please come by often with your wisdom and insight.
History has shown inspite of liberal attitude of Democrats, conservative Republicans have been more helpful to India. However, things may change this time.
Indian new generation supports 'Obama' only because he will be first black president of USA but the policy which he will continue, harmful to India's point of view, but the current situation and demand of time will force 'Obama' to go as per the way Mr. Bush has decided, the current policy related to India, as 6th Nuclear State with growing economic clout and as counter weight to China, as Balancing factor, they must, they have to go with India because it the demand of the time, whomever win this elections. The foreign policy related any country is decided by the policy makers and think tanks, it happens in India and is applicable to USA also, it cant be suddenly change so I dont think that even if 'Obama' win he will reverse or change the criteria decided by the US policy makers of India and by India. I dont think that if he will change some thing, it wil have any effect on India. We are to strong to resist, this is new world order that USA cant change even if it want to, it is the matter of co existence. So let support First Black President of USA. with lot of respect to Mr. Bush.
Great news....
thanks for sharimg...
