Just a few Hilton Head memories

The only problem with nice weekends away from home is that they always end. As planned we came home Sunday after spending five hours at the outlet malls where Dragonwife and Miss Wiggles bought a few needed clothes and what I will describe as a trunk load of crap that in the end will just take up space either in the attic or garage. I would be neglectful if I didn't add that when we pulled out from the resort Dragonwife had volunteered to drive being that I had to go to work later that night. Long story short napping in a Toyota Corolla for someone my size does not really work.

The picture above is of the Saturday night sunset on Broad Creek. Around me were all sorts of ghouls and goblins doing the resort sponsored Halloween activties. Miss Wiggles dressed as a witch and I would have included pictures of her in custom except none were in focus.

Being completely screwed up and out of chronological order this is a picture of the beach on Saturday afternoon. I found this sand castle looking like some abandoned ancient city from a lost civilization. That Saturday was just about a perfect day as they come. I was able to ditch Dragonwife and Miss Wiggles who were taking part in a craft back at the main resort. The only problem I had at that moment was that the beach house bar was closed for the season and there were no cute babes or smoking hot MILFs anywhere to be seen.

Even more chronologically screwed up this is the resort pier sticking out on Broad Creek. This was taken on Friday afternoon as the clouds moved in and the mist started swirling around giving it an almost fantasy feel.

Across the creek you can still see the mansions owned by the truly rich and famous. I have actually heard that real estate agents have special checks they do on any potential buyer long before any house is shown. Which I understand to a certain level but the devil is in the details and if the story I heard is true such things like politics and family history are taken into consideration. So say I win fifty million in the lotto and want to buy one of those mansions I was told that it just wouldn't happen.

This last item is just a short video of the beach with me walking around enjoying the sights, sounds, and smells of the beach. I promise I don't say much.

Now, that's what I call photography!

And you have hit on why I never like to go on vacations: I always have to come back!

Readers should be sure to remember to click on each of these beauties!

With posts like this, who needs to buy airline tickets? Sights & sounds right here! I just couldn't quite pick up the smells... (Maybe if I go back over them...)

Vigilante is right! Those are beautiful pictures. I think that the first one is my favourite. :)

Great video too. Did you stick that "Y'all" on the end just for us???
Hahaha! I loves it!

Great stuff. Thanks so much for posting these...

What if you tell the real estate guys that, like Michael Steele, you're off the hook?

Magnificent, Beach!

You know Hunting Island? That was the retreat I used to spend with my editor and her family... you make me homesick for Carloina... damn I miss the those truly gracious accents. And the VFW. OMG... ok, ok, ok... I'm back in the tropics... you have a knack for promoting the astral me. :-)

Vigil: It hurt like shit to come back to Rightwing berg and all the good acolytes. Not that Hilton Head is any liberal enclave, in fact its also in Joe "You Lie" Wilson's district. Its just that any place next the ocean is still far better than Rightwing berg.

Sunshine: Yeah, I did add the y'all just for fun.

Cloudia: I'd still trade you but I don't think you would go for it.

Randal: That is a good question, I imagine that at some point money would overrule any high society or political crap but once you get up that high you sort of belong to those groups by default.

Madmike: Yeah, its nice but I wouldn't live in that area. One, just too much "New Money" stink. And two, nothing compares to the beach on Pawleys Island. Although we did ride around looking for a certain out of the way restaurant and I could not believe it but we actually found a section on the island with normal houses and people.

Gwen: Been to Hunting Island once and its was great. Its still off the beaten path in relation to Hilton Head and the kids and wife don't do side road trips very well.

I don't really know you, except from the blogosphere, but still I'd be disappointed if you did want to buy one of those mansions.

But then, I'm pretty damn egalitarian.

Stimpson: Yeah, such large places just ain't my style, but on the other hand imagine the parties I could throw and being rich I would fly all the usual blogging suspects in like yourself.

Fifty million and they still would not have you buy it???

That's rich!!

Nice pics though and yeah, holidays mean just that, you have to come back.

I'm hoping I know why.

and I would have included pictures of her in custom except none were in focus.

I grew up around there and cannot believe it still looks so good.

Last visit was almost 15 years ago.

Thanks, friend!

Middle Ditch: That might have been a bit of an exaggeration on my part. When you get up to serious money like that all sorts of rules get relaxed. But the real estate agent I shared a beer with was firm on the story she told me about the unwritten restrictions.

Marja: Yeah, I started mumbling near the end. It was a combination of my stuttering and the cold water which just made it worse. Imagine, when I was somewhat younger I use to surf in even colder water.

As for the videos on blogger, Laura on "Love at Home" alerted me to it and I've been playing around adding a few since.

Cormac: Hilton Head for me is sort of weird. I don't really enjoy the place, especially during the summer because of the type of people that have overran the place. Although, its a great place to scope out babes and share a beer or two with them.

During the late Fall/Winter months though it clears out and you can have some peaceable solitude during sunrise on the beach. This time I met a couple from Jamaica walking the beach and talked with them for a few minutes.

I still prefer my old haunts close to home like Pawleys Island and Huntington Beach State Park.

Suzan: It doesn't pay to look too closely, just about every foot of the island is either paved over, turned into a golf course, or some overpriced store.

I've read on another blog about how crowded Hilton Head gets during summer and the golf tournements, and I know I couldn't deal with that.

There's a place just north of San Francisco where the locals hide all the street signs to dissuade tourists.
