Haitian Disaster relief

“There are moments when, even to the sober eye of Reason, the world of our sad humanity must assume the aspect of Hell”
Edgar Allan Poe
Ignoring recent stupid and insensitive comments by Pat Robertson and Rush Limbaugh it is my sincerest hope that we Americans could set aside our petty and ridiculous differences long enough to help the people of Haiti in this darkest of times.
Despite our advantages many Americans have a talent for seeing the world only through their narrow perceptions of reality. We often overlook the struggles others face for the very basics of survival on a daily basis in the best of times. The reverse is also true in that we Americans can rally and move mountains to bring hope and comfort to those who have lost everything.
Here is a convenient link supplied by Google for two relief organizations. Unicef and Care

More charitable organizations from the Morning Joe website.
My personal donation I just gave was small but I plan on donating more as quickly as possible.

MrMacrum: Looked at the pictures on the MSNBC website last night. I couldn't believe the horrific imagines were real somethines.

Joan: I did hear on NPR this morning that your organization will be shipping several of y'alls water purifying systems to Haiti. Need any volunteers?

The President is showing decisive and rock-solid leadership here. I've criticize the guy a lot but, yes, in this instance, he's making me proud.

Will: Yeah, Obama is doing pretty good on this one. Still, this global rescue effort will have to move mountains to prevent utter chaos and anarchy.
Dear Lord, I wish I could join the effort beyond just giving money.

I have made my contribution to Haiti relief aid and urge others to do so too. NOW---I would like to see every insurance company, pharmaceutical company, and Wall Street bank CEO (and all members of their boards) who are paying themselves eight-figure incomes donate $5 million each to this effort!

Ditto Beach. Ditto. The texting makes it so easy, too. Will, he is making us all proud. Right now, it's a worry that no one seems to be able to reach victims because of the lack of security and rubble... and Jack, with all the funds that are surely going to be sent... I pray for common wisdom to secure them for Haiti and her People...not corrupt, inept politicos on the ground. Ya know?

Jack: You know in a far more perfect world they would. Now I don't preclude the possibility that a few have done just that only keeping their identity quiet. But I would not bet one zinc covered cent though, absolutely nothing in their public personae even slightly suggest they have one micro-gram of humanity.

Gwen: The troops being sent will be able to supply security but the condition of the roads is my biggest concern. What pictures and video I see suggest that it will take a fleet of bulldozers to clear out the rubble.

Very important point, Gwen (I can call you Gwen, right?). We need to be absolutely certain that none of this money goes to the thugs; those on the street and/or those in the government. This is for the victims, period! Doctors Without Borders is probably a good place to send donations.

Daunting doesn't even touch it... you know? And I worry that all the relief monies raised will go back into irresponsible hands... :-(

Ah, Will, yes sir, you can call me that too! LOL
It's a very idea to donate to those facilities that you understand will competently work with the funding.

A friend is over there with one of my dogs, Bailey. She completed her training in cadaver detection about two weeks ago. This experience will break her cherry. My friend called me last night and tells me it is unlike she has ever seen. The smells, the screams, the agony of it all.....So very, very sad...

Was just reading today that American citizens have already donated almost 9 million dollars. I was looking for the link, but can't find it. Anyway, I think that is fantastic.

I donated to the Red Cross.
I feel so horrible for these people! I look at footage of them, just wandering around .. trying to figure out what the hell to do. I put myself in their place and honestly don't know if I could withstand it all!!!

You have such a kind heart Beach.
((Hugs))

P.S. I have an award for you on my blog if you wish to pick it up.
If not .. fuck you! (I kid, I kid!) :D

Will: Given Haiti's tragic past it is almost guaranteed to happen.

Gwen: I think we will crank a out a small donation for them as well.

Madmike: I actually wish I could be over there as well helping out.

Mike: I just hope we can keep it up for the long haul.

Sunshine: If not .. fuck you! (I kid, I kid!) :D

I love it when you flirt.

I wish my arms were large enough to wrap around all that are suffering in Haiti right now. Sigh.
